Question what is the best race gas for a modified/tuned SL 55?

ive heard that vp 109 is the best way to go....and that adding a gallon to every tank of 93 octane gas can give us 10 hp right off the bat.....is there another race gas that is as good or better than vp 109? i was going to call my local vp race gas distributor and order some sometime soon, then after that add like a gallon to my 93 octane pump gas and see how it feels......any info would help thanks guys in advance....

Someone told me to just add one gallon of E85 to a full tank and you'll pick up ~15hp. Haven't tried it yet.

From what I've read in the forums I don't think running pure 100 or 109 racing gas is that helpfull unless your ECU has been tuned for it. Then you would have to retune your car whenever you are at the track.

Race gas will help to the point that your car has been retarding timing from you regular pump fuel but there will not be any additional gains unless beyond that unless you are tuned for it, also if you run leaded race gas (which 100 and 109 are unleaded) with cats in place, you will run the risk of damaging them. My friend really likes the Torco Accelerator on his Burger Tuned BMW 535i with Downpipes. He runs a 100 octane program on a combination of pump and Accelerator.

I don't know if our platforms are E85 compatible, which I would double check on here, if our system is not, you will expose your fuel system to corrosion from the ethanol.

ok cool....

yeah i have a few bottles of torco accelerator......so u think that just adding a bottle of torco to every tank of premium 93 octane pump fuel will be the most beneficial then?

p.s. - i also have 6 bottles of the nos race octane booster in my garage also....how does that compare to the torco? nos claims to be the most powerful octane booster on the market and that they put something called nitro methane in each bottle......i dont really know what that can do though....thanks for all the info guys!

I know that according to my friend, Terry (owns Burger Tuning) recommends the Accelerator, not sure what the thoughts are with NOS. You may get some gains from it, but I wouldn't expect that your timing will be a major issue with 93 octane, but for the cost, its worth seeing how much can be gained.

Ok cool....

Ok cool....I'm wondering if when I get the car back next week if the upgrades I've done will enhance the effect of the Torco Accelerator or the Nos Race Formula Octane Booster? My local shop has just added Eurocharged phenolic spacers, Quaife LSD, resonator and secondary cat delete, and 82 mm Throttle Body....and next month I'm putting on the Kleemann headers and the 180 mm pulley kit instead of the current 172 mm pulley kit I have on my car (this is all in addition to the obvious eurocharged Ecu & Tcu tune by Jerry, and the Eurocharged fuel injectors, colder spark plugs, CM30 IC pump, and eurocharged heat exchanger)....like I said I've heard it will add about only 10 hp and 10 lb/ft of torque but hey for a few bucks more per tank thats not bad....if its true though....
