2006 sl55 030 option - sold
pano roof sun shade

I have a 2006 sl55 that I found due to this web site.Love the car.
I have made a few small repairs and was wondering if anyone has a problem with there sun shade.
Mine will not lock at the fully closed postion on the left side. It will lock a few inches back. Right side all ok. Any thoughts
Off topic my friend told me my engine cover mercedes emblem was loose. Now it is missing , If someone has a extra cover laying a round hit me up.
Thanks.

My 2007 SL55 has the same exact problem. I was thinking that there is a driver side pin of some sort that may have sheared off preventing it from engaging and holding in place. I haven't figured out how to disassemble it just yet, but any suggestions would be appreciated. A replacement shade from the MB dealer is $1800 is what my service advisor told me. Ouch
Is there a source that sells these items used?

Thanks in advance,
~Earl J

I dont believe we need a new shade.I think its just an adjustment.
Mine will lock at the 3/4 point or a little more.Just not all the way.
Mine is the left side only. Is it the same for yours?

After a close inspection this past weekend, it seems the driver side is off its track. There is a roller that seems to be not hooked under a ridge of the track, and the wedge button is also working correctly from the center squeeze mechanism. So it will head back to my service advisor at MB to be addressed. I'll post a pic later this evening.

Cheers

Okay here's a pic. If you notice this is the drivers side. on the end left you can see part of the roller that should hook over the rail edge. you can also see the triangular wedge thing not even contacting the rail. So my car goes into service at MB, I'll have them address this issue. At least I know or don't think it will need to be replaced, just re-aligned and adjusted. I can't believe this shade thing is $1800.00 to replace at the dealer.

Cheers, ~Earl J
