2006 SL500 issues

I am new to this MB forum but is not new MB owner.. I have 2003 S430 for just about 8 years / 50K miles or so and so far no major issue except perhaps a potential issue w/the airmatic that if I let the car sit too long (about 2 weeks) it would come down very low to the ground ... any thought of what can be wrong? But now I just bough a 2006 SL500 with only 5K miles and just want to know what potentially what issues i should be looking for in this particular model. One thing I notice on my SL is the COMMAND unit display screen that seems to be 'faded' if looking from the angle. When looking straight in I can see 'ok' (adjusting the day/night mode, the Brightness, ect..) doesn't help. I read several different discussions on installing aftermarket nav/dvd/xm unit from Pioneer/Kenwood, etc but not sure I feel comfortable knowing I have to ditch the original CU.. which I may endup doing if I can't find a way to fix the display issue... all functions works perfectly , just the display is driving me nut when looking at it.

Are you wearing polaroid sunglasses? The screen on my car is almost black when viewed with my sunglasses on from an angle.

yeah polarized glasses will do that to these displays... but I did not use any sun glasses at all. It almost look like I am looking at a faded color 'negative' film at an angle... definitely some issue w/ the liquid crystal display. I am researching around for a replacement now .. hope I get some good advise from other forum members who have done the COMMAND replacement w/ aftermarket .

I wonder if the screen has been cleaned with something that it should not have been cleaned with.

If you do not have Bose or HK then many after markets will go in.
