Strange noise from sc?

Hi, lately I have noticed a strange sound whenever I step hard at the gas pedal when still standing. It is like a weak whisteling( sound, and it dissapears after about 2000 rpm. Is this normal or should I keep an eye on it and maybe have it checked?

The car is sl 55 amg

The SC doesn't even engage until close to 2000 so it is strange the sound would disappear so quickly and have something to do with the SC. Just to be clear, we aren't talking about a chirping sound that disappears, correct?

Hi,yes thats s chirping sound that dissappers. I've read that there are many who have problems with similar sound. Could there be a possibility to use a spray colled No.33 Graphite to fix the noise? or must i change the sc clutch?

OK, so it sounds like the classic SC chirp. The SC engages based on load and if I am not mistaken, it is magnetically engaged. The sound I think you are hearing is the SC clutch grabbing hold. Many people say this is normal. I personally think it only starts to happen when the SC clutch material is beginning to wear out. It really is no big deal so long as your SC clutch bearing is in good shape. Pull the front cover to expose the SC clutch and bearing. The first picture below is not what you want to see.

you should see the plastic cover that is most likely yellow in the raceway of the bearing and not see any exposed ball bearings like above.

IMHO, if your SC bearing looks good and the chirp does not bother you, then you can safely live with it.

if you loosen up the idler right next to it and remove belt you can spin it by hand. listen to it and see if you hear any clickity clicks going on. if you do, good chance the bearing is on it way out.
i would not use any type of belt grip spray. it is normal to have the chirp when it engages. mine went away once i did the smaller upper pulley though. i may be going a different route and have it for sale soon too. only a few hundred miles if that.
