SL 55 AMG Front Brake Rotors

Question? Can I get any recomendations on AMG front brake rotors & pads for a 2005 SL55 AMG? Would rather not pay OEM pricing! Thanks.

Unless you are upgrading (cost more than OEM) I would go no less than OEM parts. parts.com is a good source, make sure you give them your VIN when ordering. Last time I did mine I went OEM rotors & Porterfield pads.

a few cars, few bikes,04 SL55
I am sure about rotors, but for brake pad I used akebono (spelling) which I really like best of all and not worrying about brake dust

Buy from parts.com and keep things simple. He oem setup on the 55 and especially on the 65 cars is more than adequate.

Rotors - I agree

Pads - not so much... get Porterfield or Akebono... you will be happy

I really appreciate the recomendations. So a good route for me to go would be OEM rotors and Akebono Ceramic brake pads?? I have black wheels and cant stand the brake dust!

I went OEM rotors & PF pads but yes what you said works good too (especially for the dust).

A little more advice before the rotor project!

What size Torx, Hex sockets will i need for rotor screws and calipers? And can someone send a pic of the SBC unit and harness to disable the system?

Appreciate the help, Thanks

Anyone know where to get just the rotor rings? My 2007 has the two piece factory front rotors like on the e63, c63 and sl63. I don't see a point in replacing the whole rotor when I can just replace the rings. These are the replacements I've found

ZAYED,,
I just wanted to point out that the link above is for SL55's with the p30 optional larger front brakes. 390mm diameter vs. 360mm diameter. I could not find the 360mm on his site, so I guess I will give Warren a call. thx.

EDIT Made the call and here is the 360mm that should work. They are telling me it is the same for 2008 and up C63 and E63.
