Hi
Thanks to all of those that have posted on how to remove the front struts on an SL55. The lower ball joint has gone on one of mine so they will be off to Liverpool http://www.4wheelalignment.co.uk/ to be restored.
Mine are "almost" off but I am having real trouble getting the so called quick release hydraulic coupling to actually release and I cannot get the knurled collar to move in any direction, in fact I am not even sure which way it should move as mine seems completely stuck.
I have already released the hydraulic pressure and the hose from the strut will move a 1-2 mm back & forth within the coupling but the collar is solid. Any tips on how to release it will be very much appreciated.

Ok, my friend and I did two of these in the last month. Penetrating oil, mole grips, swearing and about 45 minutes should do it! Just keep trying to create some space between the metal rings at the contact points, even a little bit a movement created by effort should be followed by another spray of penetrating oil. Don't give up!
