Pleasant Surprise

I have posted before that I have at times been somewhat disappointed with the performance of my 06 SL65. I had all fresh plugs and fluids done when I acquired the car and had the ECU and TCU KLEEMANNized. I also had a CM 30 installed. And I just plain missed the viciousness of my KLEEMANN E55. It had pulley, ECU, stainless headers, primary cat delete, CF airbox and EVO cooling kit. The SL never felt as strong as the E, and that just ain't right.
Well, I thought it was the CM30, so I had the new(er?) Bosch 010 installed, and she was still just a big pig. Granted it has been high 90s here this summer and I do alot of in town driving since she is my daily driver.
I finally brought the car back to my SA who discovered an air bubble trapped in the IC circuit, and at least 100 horses must have been trapped in that tiny air bubble. Well, my car has felt sluggish agian lately, until I noticed that somehow the trans selector had been in "C" for God only knows how long! I am pretty sure the Comfort setting defaults your starts to 2nd gear? No wonder the car has felt like one of the coil packs was missing! I guess when you drive these babies alot, and you are constantly getting in and out, and wiping the interior down every weekend during the mandatory spa day, you can inadvertently hit one of the 'program' buttons and dial away a whole bunch of fun! Anyway, all is good once again, and the car is unquestionably stronger than my KLEEMANIzed E55, which I still miss to this day.

Funny story. When I recently bought mine, I remember driving home, thinking to myself "hmmm these aren't THAT fast?" I never knew about that button, until one day I noticed it and put it in "D" and "S". It does make a difference...
"C" DOES start out in second and makes all the shifts mushy...I mean "C"omfy...

I feel you can miss somethings if you don't drive the car a lot. Like maybe your ride is softened up cause its on comfort mode or your ride height is on to high. I've had the air bubble issue in my IC pump but usually when there's air my car gets really loud rattle sound, idk if that was the case with yours or not. The car is absolutely fun to drive like you said. And your right when your doing constantly wiping down your interior you can hit a few buttons that you didn't notice and prob wont if you don't drive the car enough to notice u hit the wrong button lol

Right. I have no idea how the ABC works yet. I want to lower my car, but feel maybe it's just a small adjustment away...

I didn't get a lowering module. I just had my SA lower with Star Diagnostics. Not 'slammed' (which isn't my look) but definitely lower than stock. Today was 75*. Car is just positively scary!!!

You can get the 65 re mapped to 700 bhp, I had mine done, it was a fair
bit quicker but the gearbox didn't like it.
So it's save yourself 3-5 grand, or just enjoy as it is.
Funnily I had my S600 re mapped and that was a spectacular improvement,
I think the 600 gears suit a re map better.
