GREASE YOUR ROOF LATCHES!!!

If your roof cracks, pops or squeaks...Why do you live with it?

After tackling my transmission mount, I was in the mood to get sh*t done. I undertook the arduous task of sticking my finger in a jar of vaseline and liberally applying it to both the male and female parts of the latch.

Ok, this took about 5 whole minutes.

Whammo! No longer does my roof crack, pop or squeak. It is silent.

Good Luck!

Similarly, I used a very small paint brush to apply some Rubber Lube on all of the seals relating to the top. Took a while to get the top to 'stabilize' for 5 minutes in the partially open position for access to all the seals. But - not a sound from the top after completion. This will be at least an annual service for me.

+1 But do more than the top - trunk & doors need this too! I use a Lexol product, a clean damp cloth, an applicator and a dry cloth - takes about an hour and a half to do all the seals (because 30 minute drying time). Good insurance against leaks.

pdjv,

Yes - thanks for that additive for rubber treatment. I treated all those with the Rubber Lube while I was at it. Just overlooked commenting on it in regard to the original post about the top. Thanks for reminding everyone of that need as well.
