I did read somewhere here for not long ago a thread suggesting keeping the original ECU when doing a tune …… buying a used ECU and have that tuned …….. checked the EPC and can see there have been no less than seven replaced ECU for my car ….. anybody knows what to make sure when looking for a second hand ECU?

Your ECU is coded to your car and your car only. You have to have specialized equipment to make it work. The major tuners like Renntech or Brabus should be able to help.

theres no use to have a second computer, all you are doing is inserting a different program. you can easily put the old stock program back on it as mercedes would do if they have to do any ecu updating in their services, or buy any number of different programs and continue to insert new ones
