Hey guys, first post here. Went through the DIY sticky but didn't find the specific thing there so was wondering of y'all can give me your two cents.
So my SL55 AMG 2003 has been acting weird lately, this issue started a couple weeks back. What happens is it takes a bit longer to start the car. For example, when I haven't driven the car in a while, and I put the key in, I cannot turn it right away- it's jammed in the socket. I can hear an electrical noise within kind of like something is charging. After a bit (time period depends on how long I've left the car for, usually anywhere from 2-15 mins), I can hear this tick noise, and then I am finally allowed to turn the key and thus starting the engine.
I've taken my car to one private autobody shop, and after leaving the car with them for a day they've come to the conclusion that the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) needs to be replaced, but the part can only be purchased from the local dealer which will cost around 1-2 grand including servicing. Just wondering if any of you guys have come across any issues like this. Thanks

Replaced batteries in your remote?
Make sure your starting battery (the one in the engine compartment) is good.
If none of the above and das points to eis problems- it is only dealer serviceable as the new eis needs to be learned to the car and the keys.
