What year is your SL? If you have a NA 63, you can get a supercharger kit that will make it a monster. If you have the bi-turbo 63, you can make that even more of a monster with upgraded turbos.
I all BS on the wife thing and agree with hpv12's comments. Sorry, it just sounds like you made up the story. I can't believe anyone would be that whipped.

Do you guys beat up on your wives,
My wife is my soul mate, and comes out in my SL more than anybody, so
she deserves a say when I buy a new car, she is the one that picked my
SL63 bi turbo, she doesn't feel safe in the Jag so that's why she wants me to keep the 63. Maybe you think your wifes are just for cooking your dinner
and clean the house, sure my wife does, but we do a lot together, so
under the thumb I aint.
