License Plate Holder
Took delivery of my 2004 SL55 yesterday and drove it straight to my garage. I want to read the manuals and set up the goodies,( phone, electronics, etc.) before I put it on the road.
I had asked the dealer to leave off the front license plate, put inadvertently it was installed.
I am not sure if I like it, but I can live with it. I was told in Calif. it was mandatory to have a front plate but it is not routinely inforced. For the license plate to fit well the plate holder has to be slightly curved to fit the mounting bracket installed by the dealer. The dealer plate holder is plastic with his logo which I do not want to be advertising.
Is there an after market plate holder that would fit the curve of the bracket holder? Or is there another remedy I am over looking? I am sure others may have already experienced this situation.
Any input would be most appreciated.

Mercedes offers a few different license plate holders. Check them out and see if they fit your tastes.

It is not common for the police to pull you over for not having the front license plate, but once you get caught speeding, the police might give you a ticket for not having one.

you could also just put the license plate on the dash or in front of the sun visor normally or before parking on public streets to avoid a ticket. As long as it can be seen from the front, you're ok in California.
