Latest build for a model year?
My understanding of German automobile 'model years' has always been that the build date of US cars for the following year starts in July. Thus, from July 2007 through June 2008 would be 2008 US model cars. I also understand that in Germany or maybe all of Europe, the model year is when the car is first registered.
When I was considering the purchase of my 2003 SL55, I was quite surprised to see the build sticker on the drivers door latch area showed 7/2003 as the build date. Anyone else here have a July build date for a car that is also the calendar year when that car was built??

The MY is identified in the 17 digit Chassis number...
WDBSK 79 F06 F109887
WDBSK =MB AUTO USA 79= SL65 F06 = (MY) 2006 F109887= Chassis number
Most of the time MB and also the other German Car Manufactures it is the next MY after July... But I have seen MBs with much earlier production dates be the next MY... Like my 2006 (MY) SL65 has a build date of 6/2/2005...
If I remember ALL the SLS were 2011s in early 2010...
