The previous owner removed the rear boxes on my SL65. It now has a
wonderful growl on acceleration, BUT you do get a slight drone when cruising
between 50-70 mph worse with roof down. I am considering putting a small
straight through box where the standard box was, I am worried it will kill
all the sound and not just the drone, has anybody tried something similar.
Will it also affect power

Only thing that will increase HP for an exhaust system is downpipes, I've heard you can get HP by cutting them out as they flow more some ppl say its about 20 HP, some say no gains, but if you want for sure power then go with 3 inch catless or 200 cell, but the car will get much louder since you have no mufflers either
