Bumper Removal
Can anyone give some directions on removing the rear bumper? Trying to install my carbon rear diffuser on my SL65 and want a clean look where no screws are showing so I planned on using self tapping screws and screw from the back side of the bumper. If there is a better way I'm open to that.

OK I thought all of them were direct factory matches (except for aftermarket reproductions)If you have some screws in it youll just have to figure out a way to make it work on your own. the bumper has many screws all around, you have to take all of them out and there is some along the inner trunk flanges you have to take the carpets and assorted brackets out to get to them. its a big job.

It's a pig of a job!
Firstly most of the boot trim needs to come out. Proceed with caution here as it isn't always obvious where the clips and screw are etc.
Basically you remove the luggage cover, the carpet floor, the tray, the back carpet, the rear and side plastic valances, lift the boot mechanism plastic covers and finally remove the side carpets (these are a pain to get out... take a LOT of care).
If you have DVD nav or an autochanger mounted in the boot you will need to loosen this so it can be partially lifted. There are also some cables to the boot light/12V socket and luggage cover microswitch that need disconnecting during disassembly. These are on the RHS of the boot.
If you have parktronic disconnect the parktronic cable (LHS) of boot down where the cable passes in through the body from the bumper.
OK now to remove the bumper.
Firstly remove the bolts on the underside of the car holding the bumper to the wheel arches and undertray.
With the boot trim removed now you can access the bolts to the rear and sides of the bumper (the side ones bolt down from above). Remove these and then you should be able to remove the bumper by manouverung it away from the rear of the car.
