Hii, I am having the same problem on my sl55, smell of gas outside and inside while it idles and sometimes in cruise, I found a leak on the fuel damper (regulator) I replaced it and done an overhaul for the injectors now the same smell still comes and goes plus the idle gets sluggish sometimes too, please help advice guys I started to hate my beast :'(

check the gas cap, is smell around the rear near the cap?

No, more in the interior and in the boot

do a search on the rattleing gas tank, sound of rattle behind the seat, gas tank rattle
