got 1 on order, delivery sometime in the year 3000, I think. OK...probably next summer delivery

Silver/Berry (ruby red) tentatively. I'm thinking of switching to a charcoal/berry seat color if they'll do it (bolsters in black, inserts in ruby red).

no build date for a long time, so they haven't asked me for options, but I'm considering the:

* ventilated/comfort seats
* garage door control
* maybe keyless go (just 'cuz I think it's cool and it would be fun to show people, but I have to carry keys around anyways)
* might do the phone (I think $2K for it is outrageous, but it would be nice to have it integrated in to the system. I get tired of having cords plugged into the cig. lighter, and wires for the earpiece all tangled up).

Definitely NO on
* parktronic
* distronic --i think it's cool, but am not willing to pay for it.

I love the wood package (wheel, shift) in the SL500, but I believe the trim in the 55 is brushed aluminum, so I don't know if they'll offer that option (or if they did, if I'd do it...seems like it'd clash pretty badly).

Wood wouldn't look good in the SL55 {IMHO} The car is too sporty for it !

I have a SL55 on order [no timescale yet], but dont particularly like the aluminium trim. Im thinking about designo stone - a sort of blue marble .. [go look at http://www.mercedes.com/e/cars/desig...eile_stein.htm ]

Probably on a silver, blue or grey car with black or grey inside and all options.

The other deicsion I'm having trouble with is the wheels, whether to go for the standard ones with the car or the 5 thin spoke AMG wheels.

I have a SL55 AMG on order with my dealer for July, August 2002 delivery.

Brilliant Silver
Black Leather
Aluminum Trim
Distronic
Keyless Go
Bi-Xenon
Parktronic
Comfort Package (might be standard)

I think I will take the regular AMG Sport Wheels in place of the toothbrush cleaning thin spoke wheels shown on most SL55s. The wheels are different and I would like to see them in person, it is one of the most visible differences in AMG to Sport model!

I think you can order the Birdseye maple in the SL55 but no wood steering wheel because of hands slipping on the wood part of the steering wheel.

No option guide at dealer yet, and he can not enter it in his Computer yet. Maybe we will know more at its US introduction at the New York Auto Show April of 2002.

I have the SL500 sport now and it is great, the SL55 AMG will be close to perfection!

That would be cool if the Blue Pearl granite trim is a US option for the SL55!

Hi AMGBENZ,

My order is very similar to yours
Black
Charcoal Leather
Aluminum trim
Parktronic
Tire pressure monitor
Bi Xenon
Keyless Go
V60 Motorola phone
Comfort Package

I like the SL55 "turbine wheels" just helps it to differ from the standard SL500 with the Sport Package

Black or Brilliant Silver for SL55 you can not go wrong.

I forgot about the tire monitor system and the V60 phone will get those too! I can not figure out the Tire monitor system sometimes it works great and sometimes it show malfunction check tire tread. I only have 900 miles on the SL500?

My M5 Tire Monitor also shows tire problems after a very hard braking situation.... Must be the nature of the system

I had a 98 SL500 Loved it and miss it !

P.S. I see you are from Cleveland. I grew up in Girard Ohio, About 60 miles south of Cleveland

If I get an SL 55:

Brilliant Silver
Berry Red
aluminium trim
Panorama roof
V60 phone
Parktronic
bi xenons (if its an option)
tire monitor
the active seats/comfort package (if its an option)
keyless go

the only thing I wont opt for is distronic, still I think I maybe heading down the new CLK 55 cabrio way instead....

Its about $3000 to have stone instead of wood or aluminium ... but its just *so* nice
I use $ as thats the most used currency on this board - I dont think it will be available in the US (unless its there already on S/CL)

Anyone had any experience in ordering special options not offered by MBUSA...ordering them directly from AMG and installed after market here in the US? I am thinking of the Designo Stone...I would like to see about getting it even if it is not offered as an option here.
