500 SEC
SL500 is a model year change, they are always classic. This particular year the Automotive industry recognized it as the design of the year.
MMMM, I'd say it is going to be a benchmark.
SL55 is a terrific leap forward for MB. A REAL sports car. Take for example the resonance of the tuned pipes. I can not remember MB ever having let that go out like that before. This very conservative motor company is getting some real soul!
As for the CL, I can recall when the SEC came out that they were hard to sell because of the fact that the buyers of MB were those looking for a four door prestige automobile. Again the MB team were ahead of their time. All the buyers for the two door coupe were really only interested in transportation and some sport. The two door SEC was a real triumph as it had the best technology for the time. Low drag, full leather, bucket seats in the rear. Lets not forget the seatbelt presenter, remember seatbelts were still a suggestion now. We take alot of the advances that were in that car now for granted. This is the case for the current MB's this level of luxury will continue to move up through the other mfg's untill pushed again by leaders like MB.
