SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Possible reasons for SL65 not ready for preview yet.
read a comment by another user (can't remember who) that the SL65 AMG seems to be rather late. This seems strange as both the CL and S65 were previewed and announced last year, and are not ready for release yet (untill this year).
As the SL is supposed to be the flagship in terms of performance, yet in the real world, due to it's rear end weight, the S65 and 600 are both quicker to 60 than the SL. This leads me to believe that perhaps the SL65 will debut with other modifications, such as 7G Tronic, higher engine power (the 6L V12 is more that capable of delivering in excess of 700HP) and perhaps even "Face Lifted".
Anyone care to comment?
The 7g tronic capable of handling 700bhp and more torque will come into play later this year, possibly oct/nov, as for the facelift, that will come possibly late 2005 since the R231 will debut in 2008/9.
My advice? Put an order down for the SL65 if you can get your ahnds on one, and early, or if not, lease a 600 or a 55 car, enjiy 500bhp and possibly upgrade to a facelift SL, or put an early deposit down with no markup for the R231, still ages away though.
