Changing the crankshaft bearings....
Hi, is it possible to change the crankshaft bearings without removing the whole engine? My SL 55 is 113-992. So is it possible to change them from underneath the car?

I guess its physically possible, but it would require disassembly of the timing chains, removal of the transmission, and some very careful work trying to get the old out and the new in without nicking the crank journals or introducing dirt.
Realistically, if you need to replace main bearings, motor comes out. Rod bearings can be done in situ, but its not the best idea either.
