Sl55 custom Subwoofer / Amp / Etc. Anyone interested?
So this will be my last post on MBWORLD in this section. My Sl55 is long gone.
However, I still have my Sub and Amp and need to sell them. Price is Sold
I had these custom made after seeing AMGFAN's setup.
The sub and box fits in the factory sub's location (the passenger footwell). The passenger only loses about 2" of legroom.
The sub is a JL audio 13TW5 sub. It can produce extreme bass in small enclosures.

The JL amp powers the sub with 500 Watts RMS when bridged so there is plenty of power. I have the amp mounted to a circular piece of MDF. With this setup it fits perfectly inside the spare tire mounted in the rear of the car. The wiring for the amp connects to the rear battery. Just splice in the input from the original sub wiring up front. Run that back to the RCA converter input and you're good to go.
Lastly, there is a remote amp power knob. I mounted this in my center console. With this you can control how hard you want the sub to hit.

This setup should take even the most novice weekend mechanic only a couple of hours to install.
So to recap...
-It is extremely simple to install
-You get to keep the spare tire
-You don't lose any trunk space
-And you have earth shaking base
Everything works perfectly.
You won't have any issues.
Please see attached pics.
However, I still have my Sub and Amp and need to sell them. Price is Sold
