E55 rear wheels DO fit the SL65 (for drag racing)
I'd asked earlier if the E55 wheels fit the rears and no one was completely sure.
So I tried it.
There isn't much clearance (about a 1/2 inch), but they do fit just fine. Don't even look that bad. The wheels are 18x9.
Reason I asked was that they're my spare set for my E55 and currently have BFG drag radials on them. They're awfully old (10 years), so I'll replace them, but then I can drag race either car with one set of wheels.
Probable is no one makes a 275/35-18 drag radial any more.
So, probably a competition tire.
Suggestions welcome.
Good thing I did it too. Discovered the previous owner had mismatched rear tires (Michelin AS and AS/3 -- totally different tires). Worse, the AS was pitted and missing a chunk. Surprised it didn't blow at the track.
Karma was with me.
So I tried it.
