steering buttons + retrofit w218 steering wheel
hey guys, bought a w218 steering wheel and have a few questions:
fitted the wheel onto my car with some modifications
retrofitted my sl55 buttons to the steering wheel (entire oem assembly) and shift buttons do not work. they worked prior to swap. i simply removed the entire shift button assembly and out it into the wheel. no cutting or messing with the switch, and it is plugged into the clockspring
esp light is now on as i believe the new wheel has messed with the clockspring (pushed in slightly on one side) and wheel is on straight. tried to reset the esp with turning the wheel side to side (5 times, then shut off and restart) with no luck
is there something i am missing here? esp light is on and shift buttons do not work.

you dont have any of the new wiring hooked up to the old sl55 wiring? you just have the 55 spring with the sl55 2 wires plugged into it?

correct.
the only new wiring is the airbag
sl55 shifter buttons are untouched, and plugged in. nothin.
steering buttons are not working (to be expected) as i knew this getting into it.

you didnt have mercedes reprogram anything, or reset anything
the esp should have reset turning wheels side to side several times, this may also have been affected
the problem must be in the spring which is not sitting properly. It must not be making contact with something or wires are pulled out, theres not any other reason.
