My starter battery on my 2005 SL65 is not holding a charge. MB parts department wants $272. Anything special about the MB battery or should I just go with a third party battery? If so, any preferences or are they all pretty much the same?

When you say starter battery, I assume that you are talking about the one in the front? If so, that battery is expensive. I had to get one a few months back and at Advance Auto Parts it was/is $232. It is a very expensive battery but if you look around for the part number - 2305410001 - you can find it a little cheaper. Make sure you also look at the S/H to get it delivered. The battery is size group V4 which is an unusual size hence the price I guess.

The OEM MB battery in my C55 lasted 9.5 years. Yea, I'm going OEM MB.

There is absolutely no difference other than it has an MB sticker on it.
