Canadian Always on light - switch off?
Hi all,
I have a Canadian spec'ed 2003 SL55 and the car is now in the states.
I noticed that the lights are always on no matter what light switch setting it is at. I think it is the law in Canada to have always on lights?
So, I was wondering if any of you know how to turn that setting off? can it be done with a regular OBDII? or what tools are required to do that?
The reason I'm asking is because my HIDs just burned out and if its always on, I will be replacing it much sooner than it is necessary.
Thanks,
J

Yeah here in Canada we have "day time running lights" It also puts the rear tail lamps on. Never heard of the lights getting burned out because of them. Everyone of my AMG's has this feature (I live in Vancouver) so maybe the light was just on it's way out? Maybe it can be set to US standards and laws. Good luck though J.

I hooked it up to a STAR system, but I couldn't find the sub menu where it gave you the option to show the option of turning daytime running lights on or off at the dash. Do you know which one is it?
I looked into lighting, but it is not there. Not sure, where it is.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Here is the path I found in DAS SIM starting from the very beginning. Cars/SL/SL230/(f4) 03 to 06/steering left/sl55/ROW/control units/body/central gateway/control unit adaptations/code reading change if necessary/driving lights/exterior lights national version/
Change the drop down from Canada to USA.
I hope this helps and is the right place. Otherwise, apologies for sending you on a wild goose chase.
