Here's a simple example of why you need this tool:
I had a broken window regulator (the cables that move the door glass) in my car.
Removed it, replaced it, but during the procedure had to plug in the window switch on the door card to operate the regulator. I did not hook up all the other 7-8 connectors...why would I?
The door airbag was also disconnected when doing this work (all wires to the door card are removed), which gave the SRS computer fits (the door airbag is broken!), and set a SRS red light warning on the dash.
This error will not go away unless you hook up the SDS and clear it! That would be $120+ at a dealer or indy to fix something that is not broken.
So, with the SDS I just saved myself the cash to clear this code, and replaced my own window regulator, saving more cash.
The more I do, the more I realize the SDS is the best tool in the toolbox.
