manumatic

Maybe because im from Aus, as I have never heard it here, bu what the f#^k is 'manumatic'? I have heard this on several card, and the SL supposedly has 3 gears aswell as 5 or something. COuld someone please clear this up or explain this to me. Thanks

Sorry to be annoying, but i am still really curious to know what manumatic is. Doesn't anyone out there have any idea?

SL600, A8L W12, Continental GT, Range Rover SC
It's simply the manual control of gear selection in an automatic transmission (i.e. one with a torque converter). The manumatic mode is labeled the "M" mode in an SL55. For a description of exactly how this works see the thread "SL55 and SL600 differences" in the "New SL-Class (R230)" forum.
