2005 SL65 - Wheezing almost start
I'm having a problem with the car and my indy is struggling to find the cause. It isn't throwing any codes.
It is intermittent, which is annoying as heck.
When I try to start it, it sort of starts, but is wheezing. No other way to say it. It lasts about 20 seconds and dies.
If you let it cool for a half hour, it will usually start (but not always).
The Crankshaft position sensor is less than 5 months old, although I suppose it could have failed again.
I also have an occasional problem with misfires when I start the car. It will barely limp and throws a misfire code. If I shut it off, wait 10 seconds and restart it will always start just fine.
Any thoughts?

Winter fuel in hot temps vaporizing???
My 2006 SL65 does something similar. It only occurs when we are getting winter blend fuel and the outside temps are above about 80. If I drive, get the car to operating temperature, stop for about 15-30 minutes, then try to restart, the car stumbles and sometimes dies. The "Wheezing" you're hearing is probably the starter system.
Apparently, the winter fuel is blended to vaporize at a lower temperature. When ambient temperatures are above 80 and the car is hot and still, the engine compartment becomes so hot that the fuel vaporizes. I was told by the Service Manager at my local dealership that there were fixes for the other model SLs but not the 65. My issue does not occur in the summer months.
