Can you rebuild idler pulley?
Why in the world are these so expensive?! The front pulley is in perfect working condition, just the back plastic one failed on me. I cant seem to find a rebuild kit or just the plastic pulley, only the OEM combo for about 500 bucks. I found some knock offs on ebay for about 150-200, anyone have any experience with them?
This happened to me while I was out of town, I called a tow company and had them tow it the nearest dealership, thinking they can atleast get me back on the road quickly. They wanted $1510 for parts and labor I got a ride home, hopped my truck rented a uhaul car trailer for 50 bucks and went and got my car. They must be out their minds.

I've had pulleys fail on SLK's we have owned, so I replaced all of the ones on my SL55. Contact Shardul at the forum here. He sells very nice replacements. I'd opt for replacing the belt as well.
Here is a link for what I purchased:

Good luck.

The Dayco 89130 is a perfect fit; my writeup used a Dayco 89012.
I have the Mercedes part number in the post; compare with yours. If the same, rebuild it for $27 or so.
