2006 sl55 amg; 2013 cls550
looking to upgrade from 06 sl55amg.....
So I have been driving an 06 sl55amg for about 2 years and love the car.
The engine is outstanding (as y'all know); however, I want to move to a newer model and wanted some recommendations. I have been looking at 2012 and 2013 sl63 while also considering a 2015-2016 base SL. I understand that the newer base sl's performance is somewhat similar to the older amg's?
The thing that scares me with the newer amg's is of course the warranty situation - while I have never had any mechanical problems with my sl55, I don't think I want to risk it with a 70k car.
Any advice or recommendations? Do some prefer an 2011 or 2012 sl63 to the newer models?
Any advice appreciated.

In 2013, lots of things happened to the SL. The SL (R231) received a new aluminum body shell and the 5.5 N/A motor was replaced with the 4.7 bi-turbo in the SL550. The SL63 went from the 6.2 N/A motor to the 5.5 bi-turbo motor.
The difference in the stock (2013 & up) SL550 and the SL63 is pretty major and I would pick a SL63 any day over the SL550 - even to sacrifice and older model year to have one. I would also pick at 2013 SL63 over a 2011 or 2012 model.
The SL550 is a great car, but I have a feeling that if you're used to the extras that come with the AMG models, you'll be wanting those goodies with your new SL.
AMG builds very good mechanicals and you don't hear of many issues.
