m5Zealot: If you could, I'd love to see the cost of the repairs. Given so much was done, it would be helpful to see the true cost of each to help set expectations for potential buyers and to know how to plan ahead.
$25k for a 2006 with those miles and most importantly service records is outstanding.
Thank you in advance!

Thank you! I stashed away a King's ransom in anticipation of all the upcoming maintenance issues but looks like I'm good for awhile. I love the car. The torque delivery is amazing compared to my M5 or other cars I have owned. I'm glad I have above average mechanical skills so I can handle most of the maintenance in the coming years.

Congrats! Fantastic car. I enjoyed reading about the process you went through to make your choice.

Beautiful SL you found there, m5zealot
if you want to add Paddles (to make it more like the 2007 and 2008), send me a note and I will be happy to help you out with that (I manufacture the "mercedes paddle converter" module and do all of DCT Motorsports and MA Carbon's Mercedes and Porsche paddle shift upgrades).
Cheers,
Chris

Beautiful car indeed
I've had my 2006 / 030 for the last 2 years and every trip is a joy.
Be sure you take care of the vacuum leak in the door lock system before it kills the PSE pump and shuts down the vario roof. That pump motor is subject burnout and the electronics to water damage.
