2004 AMG SL55 crankshaft sensor A ODBC code errors & starting problems

Problem starting car, turns over but no ignition or fuel sympton; ODBC showed Crankshaft A Sensor message.

1-Is it correct that crank shaft SENSOR A is on the driver side, rear side of engine near firewall just above transmission bell housing?
2-Was told there is also possibility of sensor B error codes.... where is the B sensor location, or is that info incorrect?
3-preferred way to replace crank shaft sensor A, either work from top of right fender side, or remove wheel and shield and access from underneath driver side front fender?

Thanks for any advice and suggestions, first time AMG SL55 owner in Southern Arizona.
