SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: 03 SL55 won't start, key fob.

03 SL55 won't start, key fob.
Key fob (new batt) isn't recognised in key switch and won't turn. Windows won't operate and several other items not working. Charged consumer batt (trunk) at 12.6V. Checked all fuses under hood and behind passanger seat and the one next to the battery in the trunk. I removed the alarm last week an it looks to be in great condition on the outside. The car started acting up on Monday and has been working off and on all week now nothing.
Things i've tried.
Cleaned ket switch in car. (wiped with qtip and alcohol.
Checked all known fuses,
Charged batt.
Cleaned front of key fob and changed batt.
Car only has 64K miles, and is in perfect condition. Daily driver, garage kept.
Any help appreciated.

Does the red light flash on the key when buttons pushed?
When you say "removed the alarm", what exactly do you mean?
I'm hoping you have a 2nd key, as this is quick and easy way to know if issue is a key or the EIS or other theft relevant parts.
