Need upgrade advice
I have a very special 07 sl55amg with every option including p030 and designo with special ordered white seats and maple trim as opposed to std. designo black and cf trim.im considering a 77 mm pulley and other associated changes but am getting conflicting info on if this is effective/possible with 030 plg. Included would be a remap , cooling pump and cooler. I’m not only wondering about doing this but if other things are needed like injectors. I don’t want to hurt the value of this car either as I already have well over 40k into it and about 75k miles. And would sell in a year or so as I can’t keep cars for more than 3 years even though this is the finest car I’ve had to date. Thanks for any help or links to help as it’s a big decision to leave the car stock .thanks JG

the p030 package just means you have the sl65 brakes and limited slip. all engine upgrades are the same. since the car is an 07 you already have an 80mm TB, so upgrading that to an 82 wont be as big of a jump as others. a pulley you can put on just fine, but if you go with a 77 the car will need additional cooling to work optimally. 77 will let you get one good run before too much heat soak starts cutting back timing, which will then render the car possibly slower than stock until the heat has dissipated. an 83mm pulley with a tune would work fine without needing additional cooling, though you won't see nearly the same power increase. also be sure to get a scattershield for the pulley. since your car is an 07 you already have the bosch 010 pump and dont need to upgrade that. if you go the 77 you will for sure need an additional heat exchanger and i would also argue you need headers to really maximize its potential. i believe that wiestec is the only company that makes an exchanger that is plug and play for the sl55. all other companies heat exchangers require modifications to work. i got one designed for a chevy cobalt as it was far cheaper and actually a better exchanger anyhow

I have a 2007 030 SL55 and the brakes and the limited slip diff are the greatest benefits with this package. The increased top speed to 300 km/hr is cool as well as the oil coolers up front, but it's really the brakes and diff. I would say the beautiful 19' rims are pretty awesome but I see most people on here upgrade their rims. I love them IMHO. I know about the other benefits (suspension tuning, alcantara) but the car is pretty great as-is. I was happy with an 84 mm pulley, billet pulleys, and the belt wrap kit. I eventually upgraded to an Eurocharged ECU and TCU tune and I think I am done here. Hard enough to put the pwoer to the pavement. I may do headers if the gain is worth it...
Please post some pics. Would love to see the interior!
Cheers!
