Price of SL55 (UK)
The MB website now lists the price of the SL55 in British pounds at 89,040 BPS, which works out to about $127,000 USD.
Stated to be the "on the road price".
Lists 0-60 kph at 4.7 sec.
There's a price list for the 55 which can be downloaded at:
http://www.mercedes-benz.co.uk/pc/index.html
Click on the AMG site, then the SL55

sl500 1998/ferrari 355gts 1997
at first, I was a bit shocked by the number ($125K+), but after looking at the MB web site, it appears that the "on the road" price includes a bunch of taxes and fees. I noticed that the "on the road" price for the SL500 was about $97K, compared to the MSRP here of around $86K. If the math holds, that would result in the SL55 MSRP here in the US somewhere in the $115K range. Anyone else care to speculate? Personally, I think an MSRP of $126K is too much.

Our UK prices include :-
17.5% VAT, somewhat like a "sales tax", thats the only sales tax we pay, and we pay it on almost everything.
An approx 4% hike for having right-hand-drive
A lot more stuff as standard on the car compared to Germany (such as COMAND, some of the alarm stuff, wheel locks etc)
The Mercedes Benz UK rip-off levy, which means a 30% hike on option prices compared to Europe, and a little bit (around 5% or so from my calculations) on the car itself.
If youre comparing SL500 to SL55 prices, the cars come with the AMG body kit, AMG wheels, and in UK the orthopedic seats and a couple of other bits that are optional on the SL500
