After you removed your stock seats, how did you plug the air lines so that the convertible still works. Also what did you have to do to disable the airbag warning since the plugs are no longer connected to the seat airbags. Help a brother out ...i got some Bride seats on the way.

You have to turn off off the pneumatic function of the seats in STAR , you need resistors for the seats to get rid of the airbag light , and turn off child air bag Saftey feature if I recall ,it was awhile ago

So as long as i turn off the seat massagers function i don't need to cap the air lines or anything? I'd have to look into the resistors for the airbag, not sure what capacitors to use.

You're the only person in the world that has retrofitted racing seats into their R230, there's no information on the internet about this lol. I saw a few cars that uses different resistance for their air bags, 350Z uses 4.7ohm .25w, Subaru uses 3.3ohm .25w but there's nothing on the SL. I'm in love with red seats so this is what i got coming in. I'm running a 4 point harness and will just bolt it to the floor pan of the car somehow and to the seat rails.

Get the mount kit from Planted , I welded those up myself , there are other guys out there that put Recarro seats in the car , I saw one guy used a chromoly bar to attach the seat belts to

I looked at the Planted website, but it's got a bazillion different type of mounts, not sure what to buy. the seat brackets should be easy, i'm just concerning about the airbag situation and the passenger occupancy crap.

I seem to recall that when I had a poor connection to one of my seat bags on my 2003 sl55 (causing a the SRS light to come on) and I looked at it with the star tester, it mentioned the "acceptable" resistance for the seat bags. Or, you could just measure them with an ohm meter. Either way, it should be easy enough to make your own "simulator".

hope that helps,
Chris

Started the work today on the seats, once you remove the seats, the bracket for it is super easy to fabricate, it's a big square, that's flat, no angles so just make the brackets and drill the holes and weld the bars together for rigidity. I went with 3/16" steel, it's beefy and will use rectangular steel tubing to raise the seat up a little. Right now it's sitting really low, waiting for the steel tubing to come in then i can finish it up. I still have to figure out how to anchor the shoulder belts, centrline, you went to the trunk, how did you get access back there? Man i don't know exactly how much the stock seats weight, but i bet they are at least 100lbs each for the 2009+ model.
