My 2005 SL55 AMG has been giving me the message "close trunk lid" when I push the handle to close the top. Of course, the trunk is already closed. I have tried re-closing the lid and also turning the engine off, pause, and restart. Keep getting the "close trunk lid" message. Somehow, after reapplying the above methods (3 to 10 times) it will let me close the top. Whats going on? How to correct?
I believe its referring to the small "cover" inside the trunk. It has to be latched on both sides before the top can be closed or the trunk closed. Hope this helps

Sorry Shaun, but he cover inside the trunk is in the correct position. This something else.

Check the stops in your trunk - those plastic "screws". You may need to adjust those down to get better closure.
Also, check that your trunk latch is working correctly - are you getting vacuum to the latch?

They are located on the tunk lid on either side of the latch. Here is a pic from another thread. The Stops are those two large screw looking things.Originally Posted by Von Zip
