Kleemann on SL55

those that actually installed or owned an SL55 with Kleemanns

can I please have your input on how the car sounded like?

I am am loving the sound behind the car at mufflers; top notch!

the car underneath the car, at down pipe, collector, and H pipe, not so much

the pipes sound like they have major leak, but there is no leak to be found

That is just the sound of the M113K(truck sounding comes to mind).

I have MBH headers with a custom 3" X-Pipe straight in the stock mufflers. Sounds amazing and when you get it on it's loud and mean. Otherwise no drown at any speed and if you stay under 3K RPM's its just loud enough to let people know its a beast but not overly crazy.

Kleeman headers by itself will not make it louder. Maybe a few db if you measured. I'd do the headers and delete the resonators and be done. It will sound great and not to loud. Similar to stock sound but be a good 15% to 20% louder and you should gain some good 25-30HP or so.

P.S.: I don't know if your doing your own work on it or not but the headers do take some time to do. So expect a solid 6 hours of labor cost to instal them and don't be shocked if another hour or two might be needed depending on the shop.

I already installed them myself, and drove the car exhaust-less to exhaust shop to finish the welds (helarius 15 min trip, considering the kind of looks I got)

I am extremely happy with performance and rear muffler sound, I am complaining about the hissing resonance in the down pipe, all the way to the second cats

i actually drove off the muffler shop lot after welding, took the car for a 10 min trip, and went back thinking it’s leaking

when we lifted the car, we could not find any leaks. We can easily replicate the sound, as it only happens under load, by putting the car in D, and stepping on gas and brake (Same method used to test engine mounts) the hissing sound is heard a
inside the pipes, and no sout or pulses leaking out of the pipes.

Some older posts suggested that the Kleeman do sound wierd like that

while resonator delete was on my todo list, After testing the system out, I don’t want it any louder, the back rumbles exactly how I want it in all speeds and throttle, the sound in the back is just perfect with the top down

my only problem is the high frequency hissing sound at the lower front section of the system... anyone else gets that with Kleemann ?

Bump again, any hands on, I mean ears on experience? I cannot find a single leak, yet they sound so raspy as if they are leaking
