I just purchases a 2006 sl65 with 35K miles for $31.5K. It has this cover where the key should go. I can't see it on any pictures on bring a trailer. Doesn't seem to operate as a button. Thoughts? There were several notations to the electrical system being checked on Carfax (I'm the 5th owner,so who knows).

I'm assuming you have keyless go? (where the start button is on the shift knob?)

if so, maybe a previous owner put this only as a cover to make it "look cool". maybe you can pry it off and find the original keylock behind it

Looks like just a cover to me.
