Bluetooth issue during a call
I am dealing with an issue with the bluetooth functionality on my R230 SL.
It gets connected without any struggle but somehow it keeps losing some voice during every call.. meaning that I can hear the voice clearly but all of the sudden it goes mute on the other person on the phone. I was told that they were able to hear my voice out.
If I switch it to speaker or phone by touching my iphone screen, and come back to MB bluetooth, then it works for another 30 secs or so. And loses theant other person's voice again.
If I don't do anything and wait, it comes back in 10-15 secs.
I feel like it goes to sleep and wake up or having trouble responding to the other person.
Has anyone been there? Would it require the bluetooth module replacement? or should I try updating the command system?

It think it depends on the year. Like some years have the phone module thing in the arm rest.
Take a look at this........... https://www.benzinsider.com/2007/03/...ephone-module/
Take a look at this part B67875855
Maybe that will help you out. It could just be the new phone just doesn't play well with the old bluetooth system. Once again I don't know what year your car is. I just know older models can sometimes be a crap shoot on getting bluetooth to work with newer phones.

I have a 2009 SL. 2009 is the first year of the all new for the SL Comand system. The early production 2009 SL’s had some significant firmware issues. I am not sure of the cutoff production date for “early” but mine was December 2008 and it had the old firmware. The dealer reloaded updated firmware using the STAR system. I had this done under warranty in 2013. There have been software updates included on the Nav Discs as well.
My system works great but I do not have the same model iPhone as you. It would be good to make sure your Comand system has the latest firmware and software before replacing the Bluetooth module. I am not sure if that is separately replaceable from the Comand unit.
