Which would you rather?

Styling of the 2007 SL55 is truly beautiful imo, but the performance & handling of the SL63 is compelling. Though, the handling of the '07 SL55 is supposedly improved over the '03 to '06 SL55.

SL63 seems to be a very powerful luxury grand tour also but with a high revving N/A engine, MCT trans, and better handling making it more of a sports car, but not necessarily a complete sports car.

All personal preference. 7 speed in 63 greatly enhances performance. Spend $1-$2k on the 55 and you’ve got over 500hp and 550 lb ft tq at rear wheel which more than compensates for 2 extra gears in the 63

Neither is true sports car. Styling differences may lead you 1way or other. Usually new is better. In this case however I vote for my 08. Sl55

55 for the sole reason that the engine in the 2009 63 is plagued with issues. Starting to read more and more engine failures as time goes by.

09 is a better car, but you should get a 11 because some of the engine problems were fixed. I never had any trouble with mine. I loved it

I would not consider the SL a sports car - too heavy. The SL55 with the P030 performance package does make a compelling case. I don't have any experience with the SL63.
