SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Nav System always pointing North?

Nav System always pointing North?
Hi Guys,
Prior ot the SL 55 I owned a 2002 CL 500 with a similar nav system to the SL 55.
The difference is that on the CL you could program the arrow to point upwards regardless of where north was (sorry if I am not making my self clear) but the SL nav system arrow points north so sometimes you are moving left to right, other times top to bottom.
In the other mercs you could program the Nav system to ignore where north was and to track the movement of the car so that the arrow moved from bottom to top.
Sorry if this e mail is not clear, but I hope some one has figured out how to change or program this .
I have looked but must be blind, thank you for any help and sorry for the stupid but annoying problem.
