I was trying to find out where other SL63 owners have placed theirs. Weistec told me where ever it fits, but I'm having a hard time, at least with the run of hose they gave me. Behind the headlamp won't work due to the SBC pump and plumbing. I ended up replacing the dipstick with a oil tube cap and can place the can there as in the photos. But, I don't really like it, especially since the SL does not have a check oil feature on the SID.
Installed mine at right front of engine bay, in the space just forward of the brake control module. Wrapped the reservoir with oil-resistant padding so no drilling/hardware required, and quick-n-ez to remove to empty.
I considered the aforementioned location but decided against it due to the catch can's proximity to the SBC module and xenon headlamp. Perhaps that's just me being overly cautious, but so be it.
Ended up installing it in the rear of the engine bay. FWIW, I have no issues removing/reinserting the dipstick.
