Bolt on Carbon Discs for 06 SL55
This may have been covered, but I didn't find, is:
Are there carbon brakes from some model like a CLS 63 etc etc that has the carbon brake hardware that will fit a '06 SL55?? The stock steel brakes are good, but I learned that repeated hard braking will get them too hot. Also, I drove a bunch of new AMG offerings at the AMG Academy and was very-very impressed with the performance of the carbon brakes. Basically - - - infinite braking power.
Also, reducing a few pounds of rotating mass is a bonus. I guess a steel disc is about 15-20# ea. The carbon, I'm guessing a few pounds ea? Thanks.

Many who have the carbon disks from the factory swap for steel rotors and then put the carbon disks back on before they sell. As far as the model, you will need to do some research. MB tries to use parts across various lines. In addition, there are aftermarket suppliers but, again, you will need to do the research. To me, not worth putting $20k in rotors on a car worth less than the cost of the rotors.

The only thing carbon brakes on the street are good for is bragging rights at coffee, and zero brake dust. However, if you use Akibono brake pads you can eliminate the brake dust.
