Wheels
I'm looking for some wheels for track tires for my 07 SL55. I don't want nice wheels, as long as their straight and not cracked they'll do.
Thanks

I have a set of the OE 18" turbine wheels that were on the '03+ cars. They have Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. I bought the package used, and drove one three day event at Watkins Glen shortly after I bought the SL55.. Wheels/tires ran very smooth up to 140 mph, which was my max speed on the uphill backstretch. (I'd driven the track a lot in my '89 928 S4, but I sold it about 3 months before buying the SL55 and driving it home from Utah. The handling of the SL55 was so fabulous in the mountains that I just HAD to drive it at 'the Glen' for a few days, even though I'd earlier told my wife that I was retiring from track driving - at age 77). There is some curb rash on the wheels, Tread depth is 7/32 or slightly better on all four tires.
The tires were adequately 'sticky' then, and the wheels/tires been in storage in the climate controlled lower level of our house since.I returned from the track 'fun'. Make me a fair offer and they are yours.

Wheels are the OE AMG wheels. The tires are 245/40 X 18 and 275/35 X18 ZR rated. Fronts are 8.5" et25. Rears are 9.5 et28.
I'm sure you know that heat cycling is what hardens the rubber on tires, since these have not had very many heat cycles, and have been stored in an 68-70 degree environment, the tires are still in good condition.
Yes, Phil bought my '90 SEC. Small world!!

I need 19" and 18's won't fit because of the brakes.
He bought my 1989 560 SL, 1991 560 SEC, and my 2005 SL 500. The 560 SL was all original including belts and hoses, the oil and tires were the only
things it wasn't born with and it looked better than new.

Well - when I bought the car, it had a set of aftermarket chromed 19" wheels, 8 1/2 front and I think I recall 9 1/2 (maybe 10) rears. The car came from Utah, and the chrome is perfect (again, as I recall). Do you have any interest in these? Same situation make a reasonable offer and they are yours. Oh = these also have tires. Fronts probably 8.5-9 / 32nds and were driven on for about 8-9 months. The rears were driven on for about 2 months, and probably have nearly new depth. Again, stored since removal in the climate controlled lower level of our house. These tires are Falkens.
Sounds like your 'cars were in great condition. How many cars does Phil have at this point? I think he said mine was the 3rd or 4th he owned.

Gary,
I wouldn't know what their worth, shoot me a number. What kind of tires?
I'm sure Phil's up to about 80 by now. When did you sell him the car?
My email is 560sec@charter.net, easier than the forum
