How to repair the finish / paint on an Intake Manifold 1561410801
These are photos of an intake manifold that someone tried to use an apparently caustic chemical to attempt to clean on an SL 63, likely before they realized it was paint. Now it's worse, and I need to try to repair it. I understand it's only cosmetic, but it would surely look much better if it were to be corrected, especially after a new $160 badge was ordered, ha ha. If it wasn't an "AMG car" I wouldn't care so much, but since this is a vital part of the cars image or heritage, I feel it's important to try to repair.
Any suggestions, or high heat / engine paint codes that are known to sort of match? I am trying trying to go through the hassle and expense / labor to replace the entire intake manifold judt for a peeling cosmetic issue, ha.
-Thank you in advance folks, I appreciate your time.

just like any textured part you have to sand it down then find a texture to match. most were thick primers . so find a heat resistant primer and spatter it on until you ,match the texture. there may be some engine textures made if you search around.
Definitively, I was planning on doing that, I was just curious if anyone found a "near perfect" match for the gray color and finish texture, there are many shades of gray out there, and I am trying to keep as close to stock as I can.
Order a can of Eastwood Aluma Blast and try it on a test part. I think it will match well if you are repainting the entire manifold. I think Mercedes was attempting to make the manifold look like bare cast aluminum which is what this paint replicates. It is specifically made for under hood components including intake manifolds. I’ve used it a lot over the years with great results.
