Dead SL transmission interlock question
I’m looking at purchasing a project 2003 SL, the car is dead, won’t start and is in park. The car’s suspension failed then it was parked up for months, now its dead. The owner says he has tried jump starting the car but couldn’t get it started. I understand it’s a huge risk but for the right price it’s a project t car risk I’m willing to take.
Clearly I will need to get it towed, with no power is there a manual way to release the transmission lock so that I can wheel it around and get it into my workshop?
many thanks in advance

Is the (ECB) electrical consumer battery, in the trunk dead? If so, you need to get a charged battery and install it. Then place the ignition key in an on position, depress the brake and the car should be able to be shifted from Park to Neutral.
If not, you will need dollies to load and unload the car and to get it into your shop.

Before you purchase understand that these automobiles are very unique. I spent a few months looking before I purchase a very low mileage 2005. I feel that I did make the correct decision. I then spent a few thousand dollars to retrofit fluids and replace a few expendable components. Purchase the best you can afford and plan to spend lot's more to make it a reliable automobile.
