imagine buying a cheap SL55, then buying a wrecked SL63 and swapping interiors

^how much do you think you could get this car for? I prefer the 55K engine for its low-end torque and more importantly its reliability. But I miss some of the updates that the facelift R230s have (new COMMAND, updated seats w/ air scarf, true black color etc.).
Imagine buying a wrecked SL63 and swapping out a majority of interior components--turning that dingy grey SL55 interior to an updated 63 AMG interior with the new comand, door panels, seats, even dashboard.
Some people like building BMWs and such. I would be happy buying a high mileage SL55 for $14k, making it mechanically sound, polishing/refinishing the exterior, and updating it with a nice SL63 interior...doesn't get much better.

It runs & drives, so might not go for as low as you are hoping for. I'm not a collision expert by any means, but this looks like a reasonably repairable car.Originally Posted by LandSeaAir

Having driven bth SLs there is no way I would rate the 55 as having more torque lower down.
M156 all he way.
if you are that focused on it, get the SL63, whack a superchaarger into it and go mental

The good news is you can read the manufacturer's specs and the 55k has a peak torque of 520 lb-ft of torque at 2650 rpm and the M156 has peak torque of 465 lb-ft at 5200 rpm.Originally Posted by Maverick1975
