SL65 Trans? Torque it can handle?

Is the SL65 Trans the same as the E55 or SL600? If so I believe it is limited to 750lbs of Torque? If this is true we can not have Oliver tune it or trans will blow? is the SL65 Trans reworked? If so what is the TQ limit? And does Olover have a program for it? I just spoke to the NJ/NY dealer and I think I have a deal on the black one. But I fell a sleep last with the Trans question.

Hello

The trans is defenetely NOT the same as in SL55, E55 or SL600 ! see as well the information at: AMG Homepage

As well in the text of the AMG website the following: "Miscellaneous components of AMG's SPEEDSHIFT 5-gear-automatic transmission with shifting levers were newly developped as well. AMG's sport chassis frame with Active Body Control (ABC) specific to AMG, as well as AMG's high-performance brake system provide for reliable control over the road." (c) Daimler Chrysler AMG !!

Have a good afternoon

Right... AMG beefed up the 65's transmissions. They still had to limit the torque the engine produces however in the ecu so it doesn't blow.

Actually, im pretty sure the gearbox is the same in all supercharged 55 and 600 engines. The levers behind the steering wheel may be new, and so is the SOFTWARE for the transmission, however I almost positive that the mechanicals are the same. This is the reason why the Brabus SV12, which is based on the SL600, and the SL65 are limited to their 1000nm, to save the gearbox. Both engines, quite similar are able to produce 1200nm. I find it strange that Renntech then are able to increase the torque output, to 840lb, what does that equate to in nm?

It's beefed up:

From MBACG,

"In the SL 65 AMG power is transmitted by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT 5-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel gearshift controls and manual mode. In keeping with the tremendous levels of power and torque available, a number of measures have been taken to optimise key transmission components – including the adoption of newly developed clutch pack discs and modified shift and torque-converter-lockup logic. There are also special drive shafts, larger hub carriers and wheel bearings and special spring links at the rear axle.

In the reinforced rear axle differential case, fitted with a heat sink, is a mechanical, asymmetric, multiple-disc limited-slip differential with a lock factor of 40 percent under load. This ensures good traction, particularly with a very sporty driving style. With the modified acceleration skid control system, which is equipped with traction logic, the high engine output can always be optimally transmitted to the road."
