ABC Pentosin Spewing From Reservoir ‘05 SL55 AMG 55k miles
This morning I was all psyched to do my first oil change. Took the car around the block a couple times to warm it up. Upon returning, I saw a puddle of Pentosin from the front on the floor. Opening the hood, the ABC dipstick showed very low. All four corners are level and normal looking. I started up the car, and got the red ABC drive carefully message. I immediately shut it off, opened the hood and heard a hissing coming from the ABC reservoir. I pulled the dipstick; Pentosin looked frothy. Only last week I had my specialist (very experienced) do a fluid flush, new filter and rodeo. Hard to believe they would have messed anything up. Any thoughts? Hopefully they didn’t bleed it completely. It’s going to be a long wait until Monday...

Unsure if anyone cares, but my specialist told me today it appears to simply be air in the system, which they didn’t purge during the rodeo. No codes or indications of anything else. Dodged a big-time bullet.

I think an accumulator abruptly failed. In this case nitrogen gas which had been greatly compressed escapes the accumulator and expands. This displaces hydraulic oil which spews from the top of the reservoir. If this is in fact the case, you'll likely briefly see an ABC fault message in your instrument cluster when you traverse speed bumps, large potholes, and other road surface irregularities.
Star Diagnosis can test for a failed accumulator.
